May 15 Technical Advisory Committee Meetings
Today’s Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) meetings went well, and tomorrow, May 15, three more TACs will meet to continue to work on the proposed projects and programs list.
Tomorrow’s meeting details:
8:30 – 9:30 am – Healthy Ecosystems
9:45 – 10:45 am – Access to Nature
11:00 am – 12:00 pm – Responsible Land & Resource Management
(Coordinated Watershed Planning projects will be discussed at each of the above meetings.)
The meetings are all at the Ojai Valley Land Conservancy’s office at 370 W. Baldwin Rd., Building A-4 (at the Help of Ojai nonprofit center), Ojai

May 16 & 23 WEAP Model Training
You are invited to attend two workshops to learn more about the Watershed planning model called WEAP (Water Evaluation and Planning) and consider how we may want to use it for the Ventura River watershed. WEAP was used in a recent UCSB Bren School study investigating sustainability of water resources in the Ventura River watershed. (Thanks to Bill O’Brien of NextGen Engineering for helping plan this training.)
When: Thur. May 16 and Thur. May 23, starting at 9 am and going to 11:30 am
Where: Catalina Room behind Ventura City Hall (this is the entrance next to Ventura Chamber of Commerce behind City Hall – through the big double glass doors from the back parking lot). Special thanks to Ventura Water for providing the meeting room.

Agenda:
May 16, using Bren’s WEAP model
1. WEAP Capabilities (Bren Students)
– summarize where the model is most appropriate to be used, and where not.
– summarize what formats the data can be imported or exported as.
2. WEAP Limitations (Bren Students)
– answer comments from DB Stevens
– summarize data gaps, and possible data sources.
– acceptability by agencies
3. Action Plan (Bill facilitate discussion)
– list future alternatives that could be run and help watershed planning (start with Bren recommendations)
– select someone(s) to run the model and give him/her additional training
– discuss funding or a project that this modeling could continued under.
– list action steps and make any agenda updates for the 2nd workshop
May 23, using a local agency Ventura River WEAP
1. How to’s of model – Bren team to demonstrate how to:
– import the Bren model
– edit existing data on Bren Model
– import new data
– export and view output
– start a new alternative
– change the base period
2. Action Plan (Bill facilitate discussion)
