Outdoor Water Use Restrictions Are in Effect
The Casitas Municipal Water District (CMWD) has established restrictions on urban outdoor water use in their service area. For example, outdoor irrigation is prohibited between 10 am and 6 pm and hose nozzles with shut-offs are required when cleaning vehicles or watering landscapes. See their flier for more information as well as instructions for reporting waste. Violators are subject to fines.

The City of Ventura (Ventura Water) is now actively enforcing their existing Water Conservation Ordinance which focuses largely on prohibiting wasteful outdoor water use. Information on their ordinance and reporting waste can be found at www.cityofventura.net/water/waste.

Meiners Oaks Water District recently passed a drought resolution that prohibits wasteful outdoor water use, requires prompt repair of leaks, and outlines other restrictions. Here is their drought resolution and information on fines.

The Ventura River Water District also recently adopted a Water Waste Ordinance prohibiting wasteful outdoor water use, including fines for violations.

These actions by local water suppliers are in response to the drought and a recent statewide mandate to reduce outdoor urban water use or face fines. A State resolution (No. 2014-0038), which went into effect August 1, 2014, declared certain types of water waste a criminal infraction in California.
