Groundwater Management Agencies are Forming and Want Your Feedback

Over the past year, water agencies and the County have joined forces to address new state legislation regarding groundwater management. The Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA) offers local agencies the opportunity to control the future sustainability of groundwater basins. Your participation is requested at two meetings next week to discuss the proposed organizational structures that will guide the sustainable management of groundwater in the following two basins:

Arundo-Free Watershed Campaign and Mapping Tool

The Arundo-Free Watershed Campaign sub-committee has been meeting every other month to discuss how to achieve our campaign goals. We have been discussing funding strategies, grant opportunities, best management practices and much more. The group has also provided peer review to the Ventura County Watershed Protection District on their restoration mapping tool that is now available on our website http://venturawatershed.org/arundo-free-watershed-campaign

Please take a minute to go to the mapping tool and see if there is a current project, planned project, or a need for a restoration project in your area. If you have questions about the mapping tool or have a restoration site to add, please contact Pam Lindsey at 805/654-2036 or pam.lindsey@ventura.org.

July 7 Next Council Meeting – Evening Meeting Moved to September
It was previously announced that the next Watershed Council meeting, July 7th, would be an evening meeting focusing on the Matilija Dam Removal project. We will instead be having our regular morning meeting (9am-noon) on July 7th and moving the Matilija evening meeting to September. We already have an exciting full agenda for the meeting on July 7th, so please save the date.
